Magnetic cubes are regular speed cubes with small magnets installed inside each corner and edge piece which attracts the corresponding piece when a turn is completed and the magnetised corner and edge come together. The magnets are a subtle addition and adds stability to a fast cube and prevents over-shooting a turn. Magnets affects the feel and speed of a cube and in recent times have become most customers requested cube. Generally the magnets are glued in place, however some of the premium brand speed cubes have visible magnets or interchangeable magnetic cylinders.
RESULTS OF SPEEDCUBING COMPETITION
Daniel Rush won with an average of 7.02 seconds in the 3x3x3 Cube event. Raphael Fast finished second (9.83) and Jesse Osburn finished third (11.54). African records: Daniel Rush 5x5x5 Cube 46.37 (single) and 5x5x5 Cube 50.02 (average); Jesse Osburn Pyraminx 2.18 (single).
